Education in social studies enables students to become well informed about the world around them through exploration of the social sciences of history, geography, economics, culture and government. At St. Joseph’s School, our social studies curriculum is designed to help students acquire knowledge and skills to become informed citizens in a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.
The social studies program in our middle school is a broad examination of the human condition from the earliest world civilizations to modern societies. Students study the people of the world and explore the earth using geographic tools such as maps, globes, graphs and charts. Various research and study skills are reinforced throughout the program.
