Dear St. Joseph’s School Parents,
WOW! The second to the last week of school has flown by! Our teachers and students have been very busy completing lessons, projects and assessments as well as enjoying each other’s company as we complete the remainder of the school year. In addition, there is most probably some organizing and cleaning going on as well. Only 3 1/2 days of school for students remaining (but who is counting?).
Families will find included in this Friday Letter important information regarding the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
Memorial Day – Monday, May 30 No School
Just a reminder that school will not be in session on Monday, May 30 in the observance of Memorial Day. School will resume on Tuesday, May 31 at 8:40 a.m. Please be safe and enjoy the long weekend.
Cole Richardson Award
Congratulations to Anna Fitzgerald, recipient of the 2022 Cole Richardson Award. This award is given to a 6th grade student who best exemplifies the qualities of faithfulness, generosity, kindness and friendship. The award honors the memory and spirit of St. Joseph’s student, Cole Richardson. Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Richardson for presenting this award to our students.
Eighth Grade Students (soon to be St. Joe’s Alumni!)
Our 8th grade students completed their last day of school this Wednesday and had a wonderful class trip to Duluth on Thursday. On Wednesday, June 1st, the students will have a commencement rehearsal and a special luncheon. The Commencement Mass and ceremony for the students will be later that evening at 6:45pm at the Church of St. Joseph. Congratulations to our eighth students on all of your accomplishments during your years at St. Joseph’s School. Be assured of our prayers as you continue on to high school. We wish you well!

Prayers for Robb Elementary in Uvalde, TX
Please join us in praying for the students, staff and families of Robb Elementary in light of the recent school shooting. This tragedy provides an opportunity for us as a school to renew our commitment to providing a safe environment of learning for each of our students. At our Administrative Team meeting this week, we took time to review and discuss some of our protocols and practices to this end; we similarly have been in communication with our faculty and staff this week in remaining diligent in all that we can do to ensure the safety of our students. More information can be found here.
Staff Announcements
As noted in our recent job postings and renewed vision at St. Joseph’s: Our full commitment to academic excellence is not merely compatible with our school’s Catholic identity; it is demanded by that very mission. We share in the great duty of providing an education that is both faithfully Catholic and academically first-rate.
We continue to receive a very positive response to the caliber of faculty that will be joining us in 2022-23: Mrs. Becky Kuettel (Kindergarten), Ms. Caroline Hutcheson (1st Grade), Mrs. Mary Beth Durham (4th Grade), Mrs. Becky Colwell (4th or 5th Grade - TBD), Mrs. Kathleen Diedrick (Mathematics), Ms. Mary Carlson (Science) and Ms. Katie Erickson (Communication Skills). Combined with two proven leaders, Ginger Vance (Principal) and Audrey Wenner (Middle School Director) and an already talented faculty and staff, we are both fortunate and hopeful.
We are still hiring an additional 2nd grade teacher due to the size of that particular class, a new kindergarten aide, and a preschool assistant as well. Please read here for additional details on all of our new faculty additions.
Tuition Agreements
Most agreements for the 2022-23 school year have been sent out through TADS, and the majority have been completed (set up) by our parents… thank you! For those who have not been able to yet, thank you in advance for finishing this final step of enrollment before summer is upon us. It takes just a few minutes, but is extremely important for us as we finalize employment agreements and staffing needs for next year.
Library Books
As we complete this school year, now is the time to begin returning library books to school. Please take the time to look around your home, in your vehicle, under the bed, and in your child’s backpack. It is important to return any school Library books that you find by Tuesday, May 31. Thank you!
2022-2023 Yearbooks
We need to let you know that the 2022-2023 St. Joseph’s School Yearbook will not be delivered prior to the end of this school year. Families will be notified when the yearbook arrives and receive directions for picking up their yearbook at the school.
Lost and Found
Students and families are highly encouraged to check the school’s “Lost and Found” for any items that may be missing from home. Our “Lost and Found” has been set out on tables located on the 1st floor near the cafeteria. Unclaimed items will be donated to a clothing shelf after June 4th.
Home & School Association
Thank you to Christina Mahady, Sara Rogers and our AMAZING Home & School Association for all of your kindness and support of our students, teachers and families. Volunteers are the heart and soul of this school and we are so very grateful to all of you. We are look forward to the many new volunteers that will be joining us as our St. Joseph’s Family grows!
