At our school Mass this morning, in the first reading from the Letter of James, James asks the question; “What good is it if someone has faith but does not have works? In the reading he encourages us to have faith active along with works thus faith is complete by the works.
During Lent, we are called to practice three disciplines; prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Please continue to read about the various opportunities our students, faculty, and families will have during the next forty days to put these three disciplines into practice.
This week, our preschool through fifth grade students decorated “Alleluia” cards in the Atrium. The students placed them into a box and each child scooped sand on top until they were “buried”. The box was covered with a purple cloth and a rock placed on top as a symbol of the rock that blocked the tomb in which Jesus was buried. The Alleluias will be “unburied at Easter when we will rejoice at his resurrection.
Mission Statement St. Joseph’s Catholic School educates students through faith formation, academic excellence, and the development of virtue to be disciples of Christ.

In addition, the Church of St. Joseph will be praying the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings in the church. Everyone is invited to join us in prayer at Mass and/or during the devotions. A schedule is attached to this letter for your reference.
