St. Joseph’s Elementary School serves Kindergarten through 5th Grade. During the elementary years, children build the foundation that supports all future learning. Our goal is for each student to leave our elementary school with confidence in their abilities, a sense of joy in their hearts and a feeling of security that they are growing to be their best self and reach their fullest potential.
Safe, nurturing environment
St. Joseph's Elementary School offers young students a nurturing learning environment that is structured, calm and full of exciting opportunities. We focus on instilling confidence and a sense of belonging. With small class sizes under 20, teachers know each child individually and provide the kind of daily encouragement that allows all children to flourish, feel valued, respected, and safe.
Excellence in academics
In these early years at St. Joe’s, we lay a solid foundation of skills that will support later learning. We carefully and purposefully balance developmental growth and academic achievement. No two children learn the same way or at the same pace so we structure learning opportunities in a variety of ways to benefit every child.
Elementary core curriculum classes include Religion (including Catechesis of the Good Shepherd), Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Our specialty subjects of Spanish, Art, Music, Physical Education and Health complement and enrich each student's overall academic experience.
Faith-filled community
As a Catholic school, faith is at the heart of all that we do and teach. Our administrators, teachers and staff are dedicated to working with parents to instill a love of God and aid in the development of virtue among our students.
Increasing responsibility and opportunity
As children progress through elementary school, they are called to a greater sense of independence and responsibility. In 4th and 5th grade, students transition slightly from the homeroom setting of K-3 and move to a structure that features academic specialists for the subject areas of science and social studies. Our older elementary students gain more leadership opportunities, have younger students as “buddies” and are able to participate in our band and athletic programs.
A place to belong
St. Joseph's School is a community like no other. Students build friendships in the classrooms, through class trips and experiences, at social events and parties and by participating in extra curricular activities. Parents volunteer and are engaged in their student's learning through active partnership with teachers and administration. St. Joseph's School students and their families develop strong relationships that last a lifetime.
