St. Joseph’s School of West St. Paul is an accredited parish school, serving students in grades PreK-8. Our 2015-2016 PK - 8 enrollment is just over 325.
St. Joseph’s opened its doors in 1949 and was originally staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Crookston. Today, St. Joseph’s is served by a lay faculty and administration.
A dedicated group of licensed professionals includes five males, twelve specialists and two full-time administrators. Over two-thirds of our faculty / staff hold advanced degrees. St. Joseph’s enjoys a reputation for excellence in our local community and throughout the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
Students in grades PreK-8 benefit from classroom instruction in the Catholic faith and daily prayer. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program is offered in grades PK - 5. Students in second grade prepare for and receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist Eighth graders prepare for and recieve the sacrament of Confirmation. Students and staff attend weekly liturgies (Friday at 9:00 am). Student participation is an important part of these liturgies. Parents and parishioners are always welcome to join us for liturgies, prayer services, etc.
St. Joseph’s offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum. Beyond the standard academic program that includes religion, mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies, St. Joseph’s employs specialists to teach physical education, music, art, computer literacy, and library. Other program highlights include Spanish, health, band, gifted and special education.
